Enrichment Opportunities
Below is a variety of enrichment, internship, and summer opportunities to increase students’ skills, knowledge, and experience. The programs listed are free or fee-based with scholarship opportunities. They may vary in structure, focus, selection process, and location. Deadlines are provided, but please check each website carefully as dates may change. California State Summer School for Math and Science (COSMOS)
COSMOS is an intensive 4-week residential program that fosters students’ interests, skills, and awareness of STEM education and career options. Through challenging curricula that are both hands-on and lab-intensive, COSMOS fosters its students’ interests, skills, and awareness of educational and career options in STEM fields. Campuses include UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Cruz. Financial assistance is available for tuition.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) – R2L NextGen
R2L NextGen is an all-expense-paid leadership experience designed for Latino high school students. Spend a week exploring Washington, D.C., meet other emerging Latino leaders, and spark your passion for civic engagement.
PAYS scholars engage in a thought-provoking combination of courses, cultural events, workshops, projects, and field trips during the intensive 4-week, residential program as well as throughout the academic year. Pomona College covers all costs.
Princeton University Summer Journalism Program (PSJP)
PSJP offers a free, year-long college preparation and journalism program for high school juniors from limited-income backgrounds. The summer program culminates in a 10-day residential experience on Princeton's campus. During their senior year, students are matched with a personal college adviser, who will work with them on their college admissions process.
