West Adams Prep High School / Magnets

Esheonn Conner, a graduate of Dorsey Senior High School, attended Cal State L.A. and has been an educator for 13 years. She holds credentials in single and multiple subjects and holds an administrative service credential.

“GEAR UP is that extra boost many students need while trying to navigate high school and eventually college. It is also a program I know I would have benefited from in high school. Although I was very lucky to have supportive teachers and staff who helped me on my journey to college, GEAR UP would have been the icing on the cake! I look forward to the great stories, memories, opportunities and great relationships that I will build as I join the GEAR UP family!”

Oscar Perez holds a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in school counseling from Cal State Northridge.

“I love my career as an academic counselor because I can educate, motivate, and support first-generation students in a way that provides hope for a brighter, more successful future. It is my turn to support my students and their families the same way my role models supported me.”

Antonio Guereca is a product of Los Angeles Unified – he attended Park Avenue Elementary and Ellen Ochoa Learning Center and graduated from Elizabeth Learning Center. He holds a bachelor’s in sociology with minors in education and Chicana/o Studies from UCLA.

“GEAR UP gives me the opportunity to provide students with the resources to not only feel prepared and equipped to get into the higher education system, but to graduate and achieve lifelong success.”

Kathryn is an active member of her community and is excited to be serving the West Adams Prep students and families.

“I graduated from CUNY/Baruch College with a BBA in Advertising, and have worked in corporate America for companies like Univision, Remezcla, People en Español in a sales capacity helping clients make advertising investment decisions to best reach the U.S. Hispanic market.  I look forward to collaborating with you all for the benefit and future of the classes of 2024 and beyond.”
