Fall Partnership Collaborative!

GEAR UP Fall Partnership Collaborative meeting builds awareness and promotes advocacy for student persistence in college.

On Wednesday, November 14, GEAR UP 4 LA partners and LAUSD staff gathered to strengthen the community of support for our Los Angeles Unified School District students. Dr. Margaret Garcia, Associate Dean of the Office of Undergraduate Studies at Cal State LA provided the group with an outline of CSULA’s new requirements for incoming Freshman for the class of 2018. In addition, GU4LA partners from GCC, ELAC, and LACC shared unique aspects of their First Year Experience programs designed to help students successfully bridge the transition between high school and college. Time was set aside for groups to dive into some of the challenges addressing college persistence for our students, resulting in a thoughtful list of system changes. Ranging from relatively simple to implementing to those requiring collaboration among all partners in the K-16 pipeline, GEAR UP 4 LA looks forward to addressing these challenges together with our partners!
